About Us
Riviera Racers was founded in 2017 by local trail runner Dan Butterworth. Since then the club has grown steadily to include a team of Run Leaders and over 60 club members who meet regularly to train, socialise and take part in many local races, running events and challenges’
We hold weekly training sessions on a Monday and Wednesday evening in and around the Torbay area, offering opportunities for both road and trail running and covering a range of distances from 5km upwards. Sessions can also include speed and hill training. We have groups suitable for a wide range of running abilities, and are always pleased to welcome new members. We are social!
Being a Riviera Racer is not just about running!
As well as as our weekly training sessions, we also organise a number of social events for members, including our Spring AGM and our Christmas Party and awards evening.
We arrange weekend social runs and outings throughout the year which often involve exploring some new trails, plus some good food, drink and company!
Supporting the local community
Each year, we nominate a charity to support through our club activities.

Membership information
Club membership is open to adults aged 18 and over.
Our annual membership fee is £30 from 1st April to 31st March. We do not pro-rate this but if you join in the last quarter of the year (between January and March) you do not have to renew until the April of the following year.
Your membership fee gives you full access to all of our twice-weekly training sessions, plus any additional social runs and events that are organised by the club.
All club members must also purchase a club vest or t-shirt.
In addition to the club membership fee, members can also opt to register as an England Athletics competitive athlete
Benefits of this include:
- discounted entry to England Athletics registered races
- entry into the clubs london marathon ballot
- discounts and other offers on spectator tickets for UK Athletics organised events
